Role Overview:

We are looking for a highly experienced Application Architect / Senior JavaScript Developer to design, develop and support modern, scalable web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript and Node.js.

The role combines deep hands-on development expertise with application architecture and technical leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from architectural design and implementation through testing, deployment, maintenance and optimisation.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with React and Node.js, strong knowledge of modern JavaScript and TypeScript, and a solid understanding of full stack application architecture, including BFF, connectors, APIs, Design Systems, cloud and DevOps practices.

Experience with ecommerce and Composable Commerce environments is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Design, develop and deploy modern web applications using Next.js, React, TypeScript and Node.js.

·       Define and implement scalable, maintainable and high-performance application architectures.

·       Provide technical leadership and contribute to architectural decisions across frontend and backend components.

·       Develop reusable, modular and high-quality software components.

·       Design and implement BFF (Backend for Frontend) architectures, connectors and integration layers where appropriate.

·       Design, develop and integrate REST APIs and GraphQL services.

·       Use Swagger/OpenAPI for API design, documentation and integration.

·       Implement and maintain application state management using technologies such as Redux, Zustand or equivalent.

·       Implement and consume reusable components based on established Design Systems.

·       Support, maintain and troubleshoot existing applications to ensure optimal performance and user experience.

·       Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including planning, architecture, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance.

·       Analyse requirements and implement new features and enhancements.

·       Develop and maintain automated tests using frameworks such as Jest or Vitest.

·       Ensure high standards of code quality, maintainability, security and performance.

·       Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.

·       Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD and cloud-based application delivery.

·       Apply Git-based development and branching strategies.

·       Investigate application performance issues and contribute to optimisation initiatives.

·       Collaborate with architects, developers, business stakeholders, clients and third-party partners.

·       Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends and identify opportunities to improve existing solutions.

Required Skills & Experience:

JavaScript & Frontend

·       Strong knowledge of JavaScript ES6/ES7.

·       Relevant professional experience with HTML5/CSS3 or CSS preprocessors.

·       Strong professional experience with TypeScript.

·       Minimum 8 years of experience with React.

·       Minimum 8 years of experience with Node.js.

·       Minimum 1 year of experience with Next.js.

·       Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture and development practices.

·       Experience with state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand or equivalent.

·       Experience implementing and using Design Systems.

·       Strong understanding of component-based architecture and reusable UI development.

Backend & Full Stack Architecture

·       Minimum 8 years of professional experience with Node.js.

·       Strong understanding of full stack application architecture.

·       Experience designing and implementing BFF, connectors and integration layers.

·       Experience with REST APIs and/or GraphQL.

·       Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI.

·       Understanding of API design, integration patterns and service communication.

·       Ability to make sound technical decisions across frontend and backend layers.

Testing & Software Quality

·       Experience with automated testing.

·       Knowledge of testing libraries such as Jest, Vitest or equivalent.

·       Ability to design applications with testability, maintainability and quality in mind.

·       Experience with code reviews and software engineering best practices.

·       Strong focus on clean, maintainable and high-quality code.

Cloud & DevOps

·       Good understanding of DevOps strategies and practices.

The Master-level Application Architect is expected to combine extensive hands-on software engineering expertise with strong architectural and technical leadership capabilities.

The role requires deep practical expertise in React, Node.js, TypeScript and Next.js, together with a strong understanding of scalable full stack architecture, APIs, BFF patterns, Design Systems, testing and DevOps.
