Role Overview:

We are looking for a Journeyman-level Application Architect – SAP ADM with strong SAP ABAP knowledge and hands-on experience in SAP testing and quality assurance.

The role focuses on supporting the design, execution and validation of SAP ABAP developments, including reports, interfaces, enhancements and forms. The successful candidate will combine a solid understanding of ABAP programming and debugging with practical experience designing and executing different levels of software testing.

The candidate will work closely with SAP developers, functional consultants, testers and project teams to identify defects, analyse test failures and ensure that SAP developments meet functional and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse SAP ABAP developments and understand the technical implementation of reports, interfaces, enhancements and forms.
• Perform ABAP debugging to trace and analyse test failures and identify root causes at code level.
• Design and execute unit, integration and regression test cases for ABAP developments.
• Prepare test scenarios and test data based on functional and technical specifications.
• Validate ABAP developments against defined business and technical requirements.

• Analyse test results and investigate defects using SAP debugging capabilities.
• Collaborate with ABAP developers and functional teams to identify and resolve defects.
• Support defect management, including defect analysis, documentation, retesting and closure.
• Maintain test cases, test evidence and testing documentation.
• Support regression testing following application changes, enhancements and fixes.
• Use SAP testing tools to execute and document testing activities.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum or Waterfall SDLC processes, depending on the project methodology.
• Contribute to test planning, estimation and execution activities.
• Support continuous improvement of SAP testing processes and quality practices.
• Communicate testing progress, risks, defects and results to relevant project stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Solid understanding of SAP ABAP programming.
• Practical ABAP debugging skills, with the ability to trace and analyse test failures at code level.
• Hands-on experience designing and executing:

Testing Responsibilities:

The candidate should be comfortable working across the following testing activities:

Unit Testing

• Validate individual ABAP developments and technical components.
• Analyse code-level failures using the ABAP debugger.
• Verify expected results against technical specifications.

Integration Testing

• Validate interactions between SAP applications, modules and interfaces.
• Test end-to-end data flows and integration scenarios.
• Analyse failures across application and integration boundaries.

Regression Testing

• Execute predefined regression test cases following changes or releases.
• Identify unintended impacts on existing SAP functionality.
• Support defect analysis and retesting.

Seniority Expectations – Journeyman:

The Journeyman-level Application Architect should be able to independently perform standard SAP ABAP testing and troubleshooting activities and work effectively with development and functional teams.

The candidate is expected to have sufficient ABAP knowledge to understand code, debug failures and identify technical root causes, while more complex architectural decisions and highly technical issues may be escalated to senior architects or technical leads.

The role is primarily focused on SAP ABAP application testing, technical analysis and quality assurance, rather than requiring full ownership of enterprise-level SAP architecture.
