Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Application Architect / Senior JavaScript Developer to design, develop and support modern, scalable web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript and Node.js.

The role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership and application architecture responsibilities. The successful candidate will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation through testing, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with React and Node.js, strong knowledge of modern JavaScript and TypeScript, and a solid understanding of full stack application architecture, including BFF, connectors, APIs, Design Systems, cloud and DevOps practices.

Experience with ecommerce and Composable Commerce environments is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Design, develop and deploy modern web applications using Next.js, React, TypeScript and Node.js.

·       Define and implement scalable, maintainable and high-performance application architectures.

·       Contribute to architectural decisions across frontend and backend components.

·       Develop reusable, modular and high-quality software components.

·       Design and implement BFF (Backend for Frontend) architectures, connectors and integration layers where appropriate.

·       Design, develop and integrate REST APIs and GraphQL services.

·       Use Swagger/OpenAPI for API design, documentation and integration.

·       Implement and maintain application state management using technologies such as Redux, Zustand or equivalent.

·       Implement and consume enterprise Design Systems and reusable UI components.

·       Support and maintain existing applications, troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring optimal performance and user experience.

·       Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including planning, architecture, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance.

·       Analyse requirements and implement new features and enhancements.

·       Design and implement automated tests using frameworks such as Jest or Vitest.

·       Ensure high standards of code quality, maintainability, security and performance.

·       Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.

·       Work with DevOps teams to support CI/CD and cloud-based application delivery.

·       Apply Git-based development and branching strategies.

·       Collaborate with architects, developers, business stakeholders, clients and third-party partners.

·       Investigate new technologies and industry trends and recommend improvements to existing solutions.

·       Identify opportunities for application optimisation, modernisation and architectural improvement.

·       Support technical decision-making and contribute to development standards and best practices.

·       Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced developers when required.

Required Skills & Experience:

JavaScript & Frontend

·       Excellent knowledge of JavaScript ES6/ES7.

·       Minimum 3 years of relevant experience with HTML5/CSS3 or a CSS preprocessor.

·       Strong experience with TypeScript.

·       Minimum 6 years of professional experience with React.

·       Minimum 1 year of professional experience with Next.js.

·       Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture and development practices.

·       Experience with state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand or equivalent.

·       Experience implementing and consuming Design Systems.

Backend & Full Stack

·       Minimum 6 years of professional experience with Node.js.

·       Strong understanding of full stack application architecture.

·       Experience designing and implementing BFF, connectors and integration layers.

·       Experience with REST APIs and/or GraphQL.

·       Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI.

·       Understanding of API design, integration patterns and service communication.

Testing & Quality

·       Experience with automated testing.

·       Knowledge of testing libraries such as Jest, Vitest or equivalent.

·       Ability to design applications with testability, maintainability and quality in mind.

·       Experience with code reviews and software engineering best practices.

Cloud & DevOps

·       Good understanding of DevOps strategies and practices.

·       Good understanding of cloud application architectures and cloud products.

·       Solid experience with Git and modern source-control practices.

·       Understanding of CI/CD concepts and automated software delivery.

·       Ability to work effectively with cloud and DevOps teams.

Seniority Expectations – Master:

The Master-level Application Architect is expected to combine extensive hands-on development expertise with strong architectural and technical leadership capabilities.

The candidate should be able to independently design and implement complex full stack applications, make informed architectural decisions and provide technical direction across frontend, backend, integration and cloud components.

The role requires deep practical expertise in React, Node.js, TypeScript and Next.js, together with a strong understanding of scalable application architecture, APIs, BFF patterns, Design Systems, testing and DevOps.

The candidate should be comfortable working directly with clients and senior stakeholders, mentoring other developers, influencing technical decisions and driving continuous improvement across development practices and application architecture.
