Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior AWS Data Engineer to join a Data Platforms team supporting a European Central Bank environment. The role combines data engineering, AWS cloud technologies, platform support, and operational troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Python and Spark, good knowledge of core AWS services, and an understanding of cloud infrastructure, security, and DevOps practices. An interest in cloud operations and platform support is also important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data processing solutions using Python and Apache Spark.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data processing and integration workflows on AWS.
  • Work with AWS data and cloud services, particularly:
    • AWS Glue
    • AWS Lambda
    • Amazon DynamoDB
    • Amazon S3
    • Amazon EC2
    • AWS IAM
  • Support data platform components and cloud-based data processing environments.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure and deployment configurations using Terraform.
  • Contribute to automated software delivery using GitLab CI/CD.
  • Work with Hive and Impala for data processing and querying.
  • Support cloud infrastructure operations and troubleshooting.
  • Investigate and resolve customer or operational issues affecting data platforms.
  • Analyze incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Apply cloud security and infrastructure best practices.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, cloud, DevOps, and platform teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement, reliability, and maintainability of data platform services.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong experience with Python for data processing and development.
  • Strong experience with Apache Spark.
  • Good knowledge of AWS cloud services, particularly:
    • AWS Glue
    • AWS Lambda
    • DynamoDB
    • Amazon S3
    • Amazon EC2
    • AWS IAM
  • Knowledge of Hive.
  • Knowledge of Impala.
  • Familiarity with Terraform.
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD.
  • Understanding of:
    • Cloud infrastructure
    • Cloud security
    • DevOps concepts
    • Data platform operations
  • Experience with troubleshooting cloud or data platform issues.

Cloud Operations & Support

  • Interest in cloud operations and platform support.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve operational issues.
  • Ability to troubleshoot customer-facing or internal platform problems.
  • Strong analytical approach to incident investigation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical support and engineering teams.
