Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP Consultant with strong functional and data migration expertise to provide consulting support for the migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, with a primary focus on the FICO and MM subprojects.

The consultant will provide expert guidance throughout the data migration lifecycle, leveraging solid knowledge of SAP FI, CO, PS, and MM, SAP ECC data structures, and SAP data migration approaches. The role is advisory in nature: the consultant will not be responsible for executing all migration activities but must have the seniority and practical experience required to provide sound recommendations and challenge proposed approaches when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Data Migration Advisory

  • Provide functional and technical guidance for ECC to S/4HANA data migration activities.
  • Support the FICO and MM migration workstreams from a functional and data perspective.
  • Advise on migration strategy, data structures, dependencies, and potential migration risks.
  • Review and provide input on migration deliverables and proposed approaches.
  • Support decision-making by applying practical SAP migration experience.

Migration Approach & Planning

Provide consulting expertise around:

  • Data Migration Object List (DMOL)
  • Migration approach definition, including:
    • SAP Data Migration Cockpit (DMC)
    • LSMW
    • Direct Transfer
    • Custom migration tools
  • Migration conceptualization and planning.
  • Migration management.
  • Production migration planning and execution approach.
  • Technical migration preparation, including tools and data sources.
  • Migration template usage.

Data Preparation & Mapping

  • Provide guidance on data cleansing requirements.
  • Support decisions regarding data selection and extraction.
  • Advise on data mapping and transformation.
  • Assess SAP ECC data structures and their implications for S/4HANA migration.
  • Identify data dependencies and potential quality issues.
  • Support the definition of appropriate migration preparation activities.

Migration Testing & Validation

  • Provide expertise for test migration planning and execution.
  • Review migration results and support analysis of migration errors.
  • Advise on appropriate error correction approaches.
  • Support migration teams during testing and preparation for production migration.
  • Provide input to reconciliation and validation activities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Solid functional knowledge of:
    • SAP FI
    • SAP CO
    • SAP PS
    • SAP MM
  • Strong hands-on experience with SAP data migration.
  • Good understanding of the corresponding SAP ECC data structures.
  • Experience with ECC-to-S/4HANA transformation and migration concepts.
  • Practical knowledge of SAP migration approaches and tools, including:
    • SAP Data Migration Cockpit (DMC)
    • LSMW
    • Direct Transfer
    • Custom migration tools
  • Ability to understand and assess migration objects, data dependencies, mapping, and transformation requirements.
  • Ability to provide expert advice rather than only execute predefined migration tasks.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good German language skills to communicate effectively with client stakeholders and the Data Migration Team.
  • Strong ability to present recommendations and provide convincing technical and functional argumentation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with large-scale SAP ECC to S/4HANA transformation programs.
  • Experience with SAP Migration Cockpit and S/4HANA migration objects.
  • Experience supporting migration strategy and conceptualization activities.
  • Knowledge of data cleansing and reconciliation methodologies.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder SAP transformation programs.
  • Previous experience in advisory or architecture-oriented SAP migration roles.
