Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Essbase Consultant to provide Application Maintenance and Support (AMS) for the Essbase environment within the Polaris project.

The role is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, performance and integrity of data flows originating from CCH Tagetik and consumed by Essbase cubes for financial consolidation, reporting and analysis.

The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on expertise in Oracle Essbase administration, cube design, calculation scripts, business rules and data integration with a solid understanding of financial consolidation processes.

As a senior point of contact, the consultant will independently investigate and resolve incidents, support change requests and contribute to continuous improvement and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day AMS activities for Oracle Essbase applications, including:
• • Incident resolution
  • Change requests
  • Monitoring
  • Troubleshooting
  • Technical analysis
• Ensure the integrity, consistency and performance of data flows from CCH Tagetik into Essbase cubes.
• Design, build and maintain Essbase outlines, calculation scripts and business rules.
• Optimise Essbase cube structures for consolidation reporting and analytical performance.
• Work with BSO and/or ASO cubes and recommend appropriate design approaches.
• Troubleshoot:
• • Data load failures
  • Calculation errors
  • Data inconsistencies
  • Reporting discrepancies
  • Performance issues
• Investigate discrepancies between CCH Tagetik and Essbase data.
• Collaborate with the Tagetik team to align:

  • Dimensions

  • Integration processes
• Support end-user reporting solutions connected to Essbase, including Smart View and Hyperion Financial Reporting or equivalent tools.
• Participate in change management, testing and validation of Essbase-related enhancements.
• Document technical processes, troubleshooting procedures, incident resolutions and knowledge base articles.
• Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement of recurring operational activities.
• Act as a technical escalation point for junior consultants.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.
• Ensure incidents and service requests are handled according to agreed SLAs and support processes.

Required Technical Skills:

Oracle Essbase

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience with Oracle Essbase.
• Strong hands-on experience with Essbase BSO and/or ASO.
• Strong experience with:

• Experience with Essbase administration.
• Knowledge of Essbase security and access management.
• Experience with Essbase performance tuning and optimisation.
• Ability to analyse and resolve complex Essbase technical issues.

Data Integration

• Good understanding of ETL and data integration processes.
• Experience troubleshooting data loads and data integration issues.
• Experience working with CCH Tagetik as a source system is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with ODI, EPM Automate or equivalent data load/automation tools is a plus.
• Understanding of data mapping, dimensionality and data refresh processes.

Reporting

• Experience with reporting tools connected to Essbase, such as:
• • Oracle Smart View
  • Hyperion Financial Reporting
  • Equivalent Essbase reporting tools
• Ability to investigate reporting discrepancies and trace issues back to the underlying cube or data integration layer.

Financial Consolidation Knowledge

• Good understanding of financial consolidation processes.
• Knowledge of:

• Experience supporting Essbase in a financial consolidation or financial reporting environment.

AMS / Application Support Experience

• Previous experience working in an AMS / application support environment.

• Ability to investigate incidents independently and provide structured root-cause analysis.
• Experience working with distributed or international teams.

Seniority Expectations – Senior:

The Senior Essbase Consultant should be capable of working independently as a technical SME within an AMS environment.

The candidate is expected to take ownership of complex Essbase incidents, data integration issues, cube performance problems and reporting discrepancies, working directly with relevant technical and business teams to identify and implement solutions.

The consultant should also act as a technical escalation point for junior team members, contribute to solution improvements and automation, and ensure that support activities are delivered with a high level of quality, reliability and adherence to SLA requirements.
