Project Overview

The project involves an SAP S/4HANA implementation for Hamburger Hochbahn, with the role providing overall technical responsibility for the relevant AP5 development scope within the project.

The SAP ABAP Technical Architect / Technical Lead will own technical architecture decisions, development standards, code quality, and coordination of the development team, while supporting the complete delivery lifecycle from technical design through testing, migration, and cutover.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced SAP ABAP Technical Architect / Technical Lead with strong hands-on expertise in ABAP OO, RAP, CDS, Fiori Elements, SAPUI5, and OData.

The candidate will have overall technical responsibility for AP5 / WRICEF development scope, drive architecture decisions between ABAP Cloud and ABAP On-Premise, establish development standards, coordinate developers and sprints, and ensure quality, security, performance, and successful technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall technical responsibility for AP5 / WRICEF development scope, including:
    • Workflows
    • Reports
    • Interfaces
    • Conversions / Extensions
    • Forms
  • Make technical architecture decisions regarding ABAP Cloud vs. ABAP On-Premise.
  • Define and enforce:
    • Coding standards
    • Naming conventions
    • Development best practices
  • Lead and manage code reviews.
  • Ensure code quality using ATC and Sonar.
  • Ensure appropriate application performance, security, authentication, and authorization.
  • Coordinate the SAP development team and provide technical leadership.
  • Support sprint planning, technical estimation, and delivery coordination.
  • Coordinate defect analysis and fixes.
  • Provide technical design for SAP PM enhancements.
  • Design and review queries and developments involving embedded BW.
  • Coordinate technical activities with testing teams.
  • Support migration activities and technical preparation for cutover.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Act as the technical interface between development teams, architects, functional teams, testing, and project management.

Required Technical Skills

SAP ABAP Development

  • Strong project experience with ABAP OO (Object-Oriented ABAP).
  • Strong experience with ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
  • Strong technical specification and technical design skills.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA development.
  • Experience with CDS Views / Core Data Services.
  • Experience with Fiori Elements.
  • Experience with SAPUI5 Freestyle.
  • Strong knowledge of OData.

Architecture & Development Governance

  • Experience making SAP development architecture decisions.
  • Strong understanding of ABAP Cloud and ABAP On-Premise development approaches.
  • Experience defining coding standards and naming conventions.
  • Experience managing technical design and code reviews.
  • Experience with ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit).
  • Experience with Sonar / SonarQube for code quality.
  • Strong understanding of SAP development best practices.
  • Knowledge of SAP performance optimization.
  • Strong understanding of SAP security, authentication, and authorizations.

Leadership & Delivery

  • Proven technical leadership / development team management experience.
  • Experience coordinating developers and technical workstreams.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum sprint planning.
  • Strong defect management and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience coordinating development with testing.
  • Experience supporting SAP migration and cutover activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • BRF+ (Business Rule Framework Plus).
  • Adobe Forms / Smart Forms.
  • SAP Output Management.
  • gCTS (Git-enabled Change and Transport System).
  • CTS+.
  • Embedded SAP BW and BW query development.

  • Experience with complex S/4HANA implementation programs.
