Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Technical Lead / Application Architect to take overall technical responsibility for the AP5 workstream within Lot 1, leading the Romanian development team and ensuring high-quality delivery of WRICEF objects and SAP FI/CO technical enhancements.

The role combines SAP technical architecture, hands-on development, technical leadership, and team coordination. The consultant will translate functional specifications into detailed technical specifications for developers, define architecture and development standards, lead code reviews, and ensure quality, security, and performance across the development lifecycle.

The position requires strong expertise in ABAP OO, CDS/RAP, BRF+, Forms, output management, transport and quality tooling, together with experience coordinating development activities through sprint planning, testing, migration, and cutover.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Architecture & Solution Design

• Take overall technical responsibility for AP5 – WRICEF (E/R/F/W) within the Lot 1 architecture.
• Define and maintain technical architecture decisions across ABAP Cloud and ABAP On-Premise.
• Translate functional specifications into detailed technical specifications / developer manuals.
• Define appropriate technical patterns and solutions for SAP FI/CO enhancements.
• Ensure architectural decisions are aligned with project standards, maintainability, scalability, security, and performance requirements.
• Design technical solutions for FI/CO enhancements, including:
• • CO-PA derivations
  • AUFK field enhancements
  • BRF+ output
  • Forms
  • Workflows
  • Queries in embedded BW

WRICEF Development & Technical Leadership

• Lead the design and development of WRICEF objects.
• Provide technical guidance to developers throughout implementation.
• Review technical designs and ensure consistency with established architecture patterns.
• Support development and troubleshooting of complex ABAP solutions.
• Ensure development follows agreed coding standards and naming conventions.

Development Standards & Quality

• Define and maintain ABAP coding standards and naming conventions.
• Manage and coordinate technical code reviews.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards using tools such as:
• • ATC (ABAP Test Cockpit)
  • Sonar / SonarQube
• Monitor and improve code quality, maintainability, and performance.
• Ensure appropriate security practices are applied, including authentication and authorization considerations.
• Identify and address performance and security risks before production deployment.

Team Leadership & Delivery Coordination

• Lead and coordinate the Romanian SAP development team.
• Organize and support sprint planning and development activities.
• Coordinate workload, technical dependencies, and development priorities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to development team members.
• Coordinate defect analysis and fixes throughout testing cycles.
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex development issues.

Testing, Migration & Cutover

• Work closely with functional and testing teams to ensure technical solutions are testable and complete.
• Support defect triage, root-cause analysis, and resolution.
• Coordinate technical activities related to migration and cutover.
• Ensure WRICEF objects and enhancements are technically ready for deployment.
• Support technical validation during integration, regression, and business testing.

Transport & Development Tooling

• Establish and enforce appropriate development and transport management practices.
• Work with gCTS / CTS+ and related SAP transport mechanisms.
• Ensure controlled movement of development objects across SAP environments.
• Support traceability and release management of technical changes.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Extensive hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development and technical architecture.
• Strong experience with ABAP Object-Oriented programming (ABAP OO).
• Strong knowledge of CDS Views and RAP.
• Experience with ABAP Cloud and ABAP On-Premise development approaches.
• Strong experience with WRICEF development.
• Experience with BRF+.
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Forms and Smart Forms.
• Experience with SAP Output Management.
• Experience with SAP Workflows.
• Knowledge of embedded BW queries.
• Experience with ATC and code-quality tools such as Sonar/SonarQube.
• Experience with gCTS / CTS+ and SAP transport management.
• Strong understanding of SAP technical architecture, design patterns, and development standards.
• Experience with performance optimization and SAP security, particularly authentication and authorization.
• Experience designing and implementing FI/CO enhancements.
• Proven experience leading or coordinating SAP development teams.
