Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst / Requirements Engineer with strong knowledge of life insurance processes to support the analysis, specification and delivery of business and technical requirements within an enterprise insurance platform.
The role will focus on requirements engineering, fit-gap analysis, workshop facilitation, specification creation and technical coordination between business analysts, backend developers and testing teams.
The successful candidate will act as a key contact within the team for IB-related issues, supporting defect analysis, technical design discussions and resolution activities. A good technical understanding, particularly of XML mappings, is required to effectively collaborate with technical teams.
The ideal candidate will combine strong business analysis capabilities with an understanding of insurance application architectures and integration technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Engineering
- Analyse and document business requirements related to life insurance processes.
- Elicit, clarify and structure requirements from business stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into clear and actionable requirements and specifications.
- Analyse existing platform capabilities and identify required changes.
- Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, traceable and understandable for technical teams.
- Support the refinement and prioritisation of requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Fit-Gap Analysis
- Perform fit-gap analysis against existing platform solutions and established standards.
- Identify gaps between business requirements and current platform capabilities.
- Assess potential solutions and document recommended approaches.
- Evaluate the impact of proposed changes on existing processes and applications.
- Identify dependencies, risks and cross-team impacts.
- Support decisions on standard functionality versus required customisation.
Workshops
- Prepare and organise requirements and solution workshops.
- Define workshop objectives, agendas and required inputs.
- Moderate workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate discussions and drive alignment between participants.
- Document decisions, requirements, open points and action items.
- Follow up on outstanding questions and ensure agreed outcomes are captured.
Specification & Documentation
- Create and maintain specification artefacts based on analysed requirements.
- Translate business requirements into detailed specifications for technical implementation.
- Ensure specifications provide sufficient information for development and testing teams.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, specifications, implementation and testing.
- Document business processes, system behaviour, mappings and dependencies where required.
Technical Team Handover
- Prepare and conduct structured handover sessions to technical teams.
- Explain requirements, specifications and expected system behaviour.
- Clarify functional questions raised by developers and testers.
- Support technical teams during implementation.
- Review proposed technical solutions from a business/process perspective.
IB-Related Technical Coordination
- Act as the team's primary contact for IB-related issues.
- Support analysis of defects and technical issues.
- Collaborate with technical teams on defect fixing and technical design.
- Analyse reported issues and determine their business and technical impact.
- Support the resolution and validation of defects.
- Coordinate with relevant teams when issues cross application or component boundaries.
Cross-Team Collaboration

Required Skills & Experience:
Life Insurance
- Strong experience with life insurance business processes.
- Understanding of insurance products, processes and supporting IT applications.
- Ability to translate insurance business requirements into system requirements.
- Experience working with enterprise insurance platforms is highly desirable.
Business Analysis & Requirements Engineering
- Extensive experience in requirements engineering.
- Strong business analysis and requirements elicitation skills.
- Experience analysing existing solutions and identifying functional gaps.
- Strong experience with fit-gap analysis.
- Ability to create high-quality functional and technical specification artefacts.
- Experience working throughout the requirements-to-delivery lifecycle.
Workshop Facilitation
- Proven experience preparing and moderating stakeholder workshops.

Technical Understanding

Seniority Expectations – Master:
The Master-level Senior Life Insurance Business Analyst / Requirements Engineer is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and act as a key bridge between business and technical teams.
The candidate should be capable of independently analysing complex life insurance requirements, performing fit-gap assessments against existing platform capabilities, leading stakeholder workshops and producing detailed specification artefacts.
A strong technical understanding is important, particularly the ability to understand XML mappings, application integrations, technical designs and defects, allowing the consultant to work effectively with backend developers and testers.
The candidate should also be comfortable acting as a technical/functional escalation point, coordinating defect resolution, supporting technical decisions and managing cross-team dependencies.
